So I was passing by Seth’s Blog as I normally do from time to time. Normally I don’t care much for what he has to say because most of the stuff he says are just recycled material from his old material (it’s like inception, but boring). But every now and then he posts something that I can really enjoy.
A few weeks ago I was at #codeigniter @freenode.net as usual, and we were talking about Sublime Text 2 (because it's an awesome text editor and you should start using it right now) and we're talking about how there was no package for Codeigniter with Snippets made just for it.
So I started one and made a pull request on the package repository so my work could be appreciated / used by anyone using Sublime Text 2. Obviously like any other open source project my snippets package can be updated by anyone.
One of the things that was really annoying me at work was that some of the people there was still 1995 and coding in a team without using any kind of version control.
Well not anymore. We had a couple of big projects coming in, and finally I convinced all the people there that we really needed to get everyone to use Git or Mercurial. So I explained the concepts then we created a small dummy repository and started playing around with it. After a little while everyone was discovering the power of being in 2012.
Last weekend I was in London, mostly to attend to Ciconf. However I think it's safe to say that one of the main reasons was to just to be around wonderful people.
It's been a while since my last blog post, mostly because I had a lot of stuff happening at the same time. Both at the end of last year and the beginning of this one. So you're probably wondering what is happening in February right? (probably not, but I'll explain it anyway)
I'll be on vacation in February and this time around I'm going to use it for two things. Have a really good time in London and learn new stuff from the awesome community of #codeigniter.
